Social media ad mockup

The same as a post mockup, but with the parts that only paid ads have: the Sponsored label, the headline bar and the button.

Your ad

This shows the ad exactly where your money is spent — in the feed.

Example: Northgate Dental
Example: Sponsored — leave it, this is what people see
Stays on your computer — it is never uploaded anywhere.
Stays on your computer — it is never uploaded anywhere.
0 / 125 characters before Facebook hides the rest behind "See more"
0 / 40 characters
Example: northgatedental.co.uk — usually your domain
Example: Book now — match it to what happens after the click
Example: 1:1 is the safest across every placement
Everything stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

The three parts a post does not have

An organic post and a paid ad look similar until you notice what advertising adds:

  • The Sponsored label. Small, grey, and the first thing an experienced scroller notices. Your creative has to earn attention despite it.
  • The headline bar under the image. About 40 characters on Facebook. This is the line most people actually read — more than the primary text above the image.
  • The button. Ten characters or so. It sets the expectation for what happens next.

Get those three right and the ad works even when the primary text is skimmed, which it usually is.

Match the button to the page

The commonest avoidable waste in paid social is a mismatch between the button and the landing page. "Book now" that leads to a contact form makes people feel misled, and they leave. "Learn more" that leads to a booking calendar makes them feel rushed, and they leave.

The button is a promise about the next screen. Keep it.

Sizes that stay safe everywhere

ShapePixelsWhere it works
1:1 square1080 × 1080Everywhere. The safe default.
4:5 portrait1080 × 1350Feed. Takes the most screen on mobile.
1.91:1 landscape1200 × 628Link ads, right column, LinkedIn
9:16 vertical1080 × 1920Stories and Reels only

Keep important text and faces away from the outer 10% of the image. Different placements crop differently, and the crop is not something you control.

What to do with the mockup

Put three versions side by side in front of whoever approves the spend. Arguments about ad copy finish far faster when everyone is looking at the same picture instead of the same spreadsheet.

Common questions

Is this an official Facebook or LinkedIn tool?

No. It is an independent mockup that recreates the layout of a feed so you can preview and present your own creative. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any platform.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything is read and drawn inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server or stored.

Why is my headline being cut off?

Facebook allows about 40 characters in the headline before it truncates. The counter under the field turns red when you pass it.

Can I add a carousel or video ad?

Not in this version. It covers single-image feed ads, which is the majority of what most advertisers run. For a carousel, export one mockup per card.
